The Chicago Baptist Institute was started in 1934 through the efforts of the National Baptist Conventions and the American Baptist Churches USA.  First Baptist has been a partnership with CBI since its inception.  One of our former pastors Dr. Walter Hoard served as Dean and Mrs. Harriett Pope was an ABCUSA Home Missionary serving on its faculty.
