Saved From the Storm
By Jesse M. Brown | October 20, 2007
The First Baptist Mission Team of Rev. Alice Brown, Jasmyne Brown, Pastor Jesse Brown, Jontay Darko, Lee Russell Edwards, Brett Flenorl, Khaliph Green, Georlette and Myles Peavy and Niesha Williams partnered with the Junction Baptist Church, Junction, Jamaica to do five days of Vacation Bible School the 12nd-17nd of August under a large yellow and white tent. It was a great week of arts and crafts, Bible Study, singing, prayer and fun.
Church members told us when they heard reports of Hurricane Dean's winds of 155-170 mph moving toward the island, they immediately began to pray. We were praying too! We made the decision on Saturday, August 18th to go to Norman Manley Airport to get a flight to Chicago. At the airport, we were told that we could not get a flight to Chicago, but we would be put on a standby list for a flight to New York City. There were hundreds of tourists trying to get off the island, but when the standby list was called our names were the only names called. We praised the Lord for getting us off the island!
